  1. Participate in Athletics

 

Students at the first public university in the country adore athletics. UNC Chapel Hill  / Chapel Hill University has two athletic centers for indoor sports such as swimming, running, rock climbing, workouts and more. You can also join any sports club at the university.

 

2. Eat in Hotels near Chapel Hill NC

The Museums

 

Basketball fans should see the prized treasures of NC, at The Carolina Basketball Museum. The main highlights are the National Championship trophies, uniforms designs including the ne Michael Jordan wore as a student at NC. Admission is free – so you don’t have an excuse not to visit.

 

The Ackland Museum draws both students and tourists alike.  Open since 1958, it features 21st century paintings and works of art from Asia, Africa, Europe, and America. An item of interest is the tomb of its founder, William Hayes Ackland.

 

3. Morehead Planetarium

Morehead Planetarium situated on campus hosts UNC’s Visitor Center and Morehead Observatory. Opened in 1949, the planetarium hosted training programs for US astronauts in the 1960s and 1970s.

During your free time, unwind at its full-dome theatre, which showcases award-winning planetarium shows created at the Science Center.  Aside from science shows, the building’s rotunda hosts paintings by European and American Painters. On weekdays, you may find yourself coming for a class here.

 

4. Socialize: Coker Arboretum

Coker Arboretum is situated at the heart of Chapel Hill University and was developed by the Dr. William Chamber back in 1903. He was the first Professor of Botany. After long lectures, the relaxed atmosphere will refresh you.

 

5.The Pit

For fun, relaxation, and socializing, students head out to the Pit, especially during class breaks. Speeches and performances happen in this sunken courtyard. Notices of Upcoming events are advertised at The Cube.

 

6. Go out: The Carolina Inn

Carolina Inn, constructed by John Sprunt, a UNC graduate in 1924, is a recognized historic building. The inn stands out from other Chapel Hill NC accommodations. Just before the weekend, it hosts the “Fridays on the Front Porch,” a weekly celebration. Both the UC community and locals, come to enjoy the live music, local cuisine, and drinks.

 

7. Walk Around
